Some homes make their potential obvious.
Others ask you to look past what they have been and imagine what they could become.
When Tara Waycott first walked through 709 Elder Way in Round Rock, she could see everything that needed attention. The flooring was dated. The kitchen and bathrooms belonged to another era. The finishes had accumulated over time instead of being chosen as part of one cohesive design.
But Tara also saw what was underneath all of that: a substantial single-story home, generous living spaces and the opportunity to give an established house an entirely new life.
Most importantly, she could already imagine how it should feel when the work was finished.
That vision is especially meaningful because Tara is bringing it to life alongside her father, Matt Law, who is serving as the general contractor and brings more than 20 years of experience in residential construction.
“What makes this project especially meaningful is getting to do it alongside my dad,” Tara says. “I get to combine my vision for the home with everything he has learned throughout his career.”
It is a particularly sweet partnership: Tara Waycott with an eye for what a home could be, and Matt Law with the knowledge and hands-on experience to help her build it.
Their first step was not selecting a trendy paint color or replacing a few light fixtures. It was walking the house together, studying how the rooms connected, deciding what was worth keeping and identifying what needed to be removed so the home could finally feel like itself again.
Tara’s vision is warm and modern without feeling cold or overly polished. Natural wood tones, soft neutral colors, brighter cabinetry, black accents, updated bathrooms, new lighting and a simplified fireplace are all part of the direction.
Matt’s work connects that vision to the physical house: demolition, preparation, repairs, installation, problem-solving and the dozens of decisions hidden behind every finished photograph.
“Working together, making decisions, solving problems and watching the transformation take shape has made 709 Elder Way incredibly personal to both of us,” Tara says.
Tara purchased the home at the end of July, and demolition began July 28. Over the coming weeks, we will document that transformation honestly—from the original condition and demolition to the design concepts, construction milestones and finished professional reveal.
Before 709 Elder Way becomes a listing, it is a shared undertaking: one person imagining what a home might become and another bringing a lifetime of construction experience to the work of making it real.
The keys are in hand. The vision is set.
